I am pierced and tattooed. Once you do it, it's like eating potato chips, I don't think it hurt that bad to me getting tattooed was like taking the sissy test. It burns for a bit then the area went numb and when I was done I was inked.

I got my tatoo after the birth of my second (and last) child. It has two hearts, each with a banner running through it, with each of my children's names on the banner, and then there is a purple rose next to each heart. It hurt like hell (it's on my shoulder blade), but the worst part was that the guy who did it spelled my youngest daughter's name wrong (he left the "n" out of Samantha) so I had to go through the agonizing process of having her name removed (which took several months) and then have it re-tatooed on. It was awful!!! But now it looks great and I am itching to get another one!

yes they are painful and mine took 2 1/2 hours. i think the outline is the worst of it all. i love mine and would like to get another but like i said i just can't bear the thought of the pain i would have on my back plus i haven't found the perfect design yet.

I love your tat as well Peter. Since its mostly outline on it I know you were hatin life while you were having it done, but now that you have one, you'll know what to expect on the next one and it wont be as bad.

I've considered tattoos many times over the years, but three things have hindered my getting them.
1. I still have not had one really jump out at me...and I've looked at thousands.
2. James and I have something in common, I HATE needles. Phobia hate type stuff.
3. I'm afraid I'll get something and decide years later it is not right for me and have to go through the removal process.
OK, make that 4 things, I'm a coward when it come to tatoos.
However, after seeing Peter's...damn him. Now I have to start my search again. That is a beautiful tat, and the thought you put into it, and the meaning behind it are very inspiring.

Your killing me! my 17 year old wants her belly pierced. If she reads this, I lose that much more credibility. Oh well. As far as tattoo's, I have none, but I often joke that I'll get a B on each of my ass cheeks and when I bend over, it'll spell my name. LOL.
