Seems as though nobody has anything to say on here lately Here's an interesting topic. Who do you think the next pres will be? My predictions - Republican Primary goes to Rudy Guiliani Democratic Primary goes to Hillary Rodham Clinton And the winner is...........Rudy Guiliani

Too soon to tell. I'm taking a wait and see attitude. I'm a registered republican, but always vote the person. Even though I've voted for lots of democrats and independents over the years, Hilary is still not one I can do. Barak seems interesting, yet a bit inexperienced. Bill Richardson is intriguing, but have to find out more about him. Giuliani seems promising, but has lots of skeletons I'll bet. McCain looks good in some areas, yet can be a bit abrasive. Nick mentioned Gov. Gregoire, have to check her out. So...I have no idea.

I don't think Guiliani can survive a Republican primary
I pray Clinton isn't the Democratic Nomination...

Clark, I'm with you about Clinton, but why don't you think Guiliani can go the distance?
I also agree with Rochelle about Obama. He just seems too green to me. I don't really have anything negative to say about him, but I have heard that they have yet to really dig into his past.
McCain just doesn't inspire me.
Bill Richardson is the Guv here in New Mexico and most people seem to like him a lot. Those that don't care for him complain about him never being available to address certain issues. I don't know. He's done a lot to help what was a pretty poor state, but there's rumors that he has a few skeletons in the closet too.
My favorite would've been former Governor of Colorado Bill Owens. He was well liked until the end of his term when he had to dish out some tough love. Many people didn't like what he had to say and he started losing support. In the end, he sorta got tired of the politics and is now spending most of his time with his family. I don't blame him really.

Rudy's skeletons are minimal and quite acceptable these days. They involve his nasty divorce and his trysts with then girlfriend Judith Regan. So what? Willie Clinton got his cigar smoked in the White House and now philanderers across the nation are thanking him for it. Hillary Clinton I never liked. She seems like a wormy career politico who would sell her own mother to gain votes. Don't get me wrong, she seems to have good ideas; but don't they all? Her health-care reform would certainly benefit a lot, but did she abandon the notion when her hubby left office? I just don't hear about it anymore. Another problem with Hillary is she does not have the respect that one would need to successfully run the country. Hell, when I was working downtown after 911, all the politicos came to speak. There was president Bush, Mayor Rudy Guiliani, Governor George Pataki, Senator Al Gore, Nelson Mandela, even Rev. Al Sharpton. The secret service ushered them in and they all arrived together, walked to the 'podium' together and left together. Hillary Clinton arrived only with what seemed to be a body guard and did not rub elbows with the others. She seemed like a real outcast. If she wants to run she has to learn how to play well with others. Unfortunately, I am not a devout follower of politicians. I am a registered republican who makes it to every election. I have seriously considered switching parties because BUSH IS AN A-HOLE. I was floored when this clown actually won either election. But then again, I think New Yorkers seem to think a little different than Middle America and fixed ballot Florida. C'mon, don't ya think Jeb had something to do with his brother winning? I do. Maybe that shows how stupid I really am?? Either way, all I have is my opinion and for now, I'm sticking to my original predictions. I gotta go, more important elections are going on now...American Idol is on.

The logic that I heard from several people was, "He got us into the mess in Iraq, so we think he is the only one capable of getting us out". I used to be a registered Democrat (but would vote either way, depending on the candidate), but got so frustrated with both parties that I am now officially registered with No Party Affiliation. All I can say is thank God we got rid of one Bush here in Florida and once the other one takes a walk, America will be much better off. As far as who I think might win -- I'm not really sure at this point, but ANYBODY would be better than Bush.

This is a light forum. I, personally, am a republican because when I registered to vote, Carter was in office. At the time, he was the poster boy for reasons not to be a democrat. In retrospect, however, I think he was a great president and an even better humanitarian and peacemaker. I am not biased as to whom ends up in the office based upon anything except their credentials. The winner could be any race or sex as far as I am concerned. Gay marriage and abortion are becoming popular platforms. I don't give a hoot about those issues; because that has nothing to do with running a country. I want someone who has a head on their shoulders, experience, and grace under pressure. You know, the 'Anti-Bush' I am with Kristine when she says ANYBODY would be better than Bush. But I still stick with my original disposition on the subject: Rudy in 08. May the best man or woman win. Oh, and for Keith, "Lighten up, Francis!"

The reality, however unpleasant to deal with, is that anyone that has designs on the White House has to sell in "middle America"..
like it or not this is who gets elected president in our country, This is why we get George Bush and Bill Clintons, for this reason the following people don't have a chance to win based on based on nothing more than age old prejudices that we are no where near being past..
Rudy Guiliani ... perceived as a fat cat new yorker.. whens the last time a guy from the north east won anything in a nation wide election? Kennedy??
Hillary Rodham Clinton... perceived as an over bearing woman (that's being nice).. there's a reason she carpet bagged her way to New York, one of the only places where she could get elected for anything above dogcatcher
Barack Obama .. perceived as black.. if he runs he gets my vote, but I have no expectation of him winning, I actually called my wife into the room to watch his keynote speach , DAMN, is he a dynamic, charismatic speaker, that being said, he's still black, and I'm sad to say that alone will keep him or anyone of color from having the office of president for the foreseeable future.
If I'm the Dems in charge, and trust me I think there is a small group that picks who has a shot, not us, I'd have to go with Gore or Webb.

Quoting B B "I, personally, am a republican because when I registered to vote, Carter was in office."How is that possible Bob? Jimmy Carter was inaugurated on Jan. 20, 1977 While I'd love to debate on this issue, there are 2 things I don't disscuss with friends, religion and politics. I will say this though, [glow=blue,4,300]Bill & Opus in 2008![/glow]

I distinctly remembering listening to countless discussions in coach Gents class about how bad a president Carter was. That is what soured my opinion of Democrats. So shame on me for the brain fart. In retrospect, I now recall that Nancy Reagan ran the country when I registered. LOL
