Hello fellow-Cobras! WOW! It's been a long time! And, you'll never guess where I am now - in Grad School at Oklahoma State Univeristy! How crazy is that? I got a wild idea back in the spring ... thought that I always wanted to teach college journalism classes - you know, like the great Nulla Pambu staff! So, after 20 years in the corporate world and 3 of owning a small business, I'm pursuing my PhD so I can teach public relations and advertising case study classes at a college level. Who would have ever thought that I'd want to be Dr. Spillman! I have a year to finish at OSU and then it's on to the Univeristy of Oklahoma in Norman, OK for my PhD training. In 2007 I will also be working with the National Marrow Donor Program as a virtual intern and on my thesis - revamping the current recruiting materials into ones that are more user-friendly and specifically targeting service workers (like firefighters and police), college students (ages 18-24), and corporate employees (e.g. Anheuser-Busch employees). And, I'll be doing some public speaking for the NMDP as well - mostly at recruiting events for these three main target areas. Some of you may know that I lost my husband, Skip, nine years ago to Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. I've been doing a lot of soul searching since his passing - and spent a lot of time literally lost in space - now it's like someone flipped a switch on my life and I know what I should be doing - teaching and supporting the NMDP. I've been on this list as a donor for about 10 years, but have never been called. I can't believe I'm not a match for someone by now.

Awesome! Glad to hear you are on the registry! I've been on it as well since 1995 ... no match but perhaps someday we will be called to help out! Thanks for supporting the NMDP!

Cheryl, I just wanted to say 'Bless you' for pulling up your bootstraps and making a difference after your dear husband passed away. Born from your tragedy who knows how many people you have helped or even saved in this world??!! What a selfless and loving act. I will go join today but I just wanted to say 'Thank you'.
