Hello everyone,
It's very good to see so many FPCHS c/o '86 people posting here. Unfortunately, I am not truly c/o '86, even though I am at heart.
A brief explanation of why I am not c/o '86, and where I am today is in order.
We flash back to 1985, and the Plympton family living in Indian River Estates. My father (Lee) was a master carpenter running his own company and subcontracting new home construction there in Ft. Pierce. His primary contractor told him of a huge development growth in Tallahassee, and my dad decided that since construction was slowing down in Ft. Pierce, it would be a good career decision to move to Tallahassee. My stepmonster also moved with him, and I went for the summer of 1985.
I moved back to Ft. Pierce for the 1986 school year, and almost immediately started getting into trouble. Being 17, with no adults to guide you, and being a spoiled brat can make a volatile combination. In our 3rd nine week period, I got into some serious trouble (not worthy of these good forums), and decided that moving to Tallahassee would be smart before I wound up dead, in jail, or a bum. (No smart comments please....lol!)
I graduated from high school a year late thank to screwing up so bad, joined the US Air Force, and became an Aircraft Electrical Systems Specialist on F15s. Wanted to see the world, got stationed in Panama City, Florida. Oh well.
I got out of the USAF in 1990, moved to Orlando, did some miscellaneous jobs, went to ITT, got a degree in Computer Aided Design (my crowning moment...I graduated Valedictorian...figure that out.) In 1996 I went to work as a Geographic Information System Analyst for an environmental consulting firm. It's now 2007, and I am still working for them. I did take a 2 year hiatus and worked as a software test engineer for the 911 industry.
As for my family life, I have been incredibly lucky. First marriage was a bust, we were both to young and stupid. On my second go around, I hit the jackpot. When I met Nancy (1995), she had a 9 month old son (Nicholas) who I fell in love with even before I fell in love with Nancy. When he turned 4, we started working on our second child. My daughter Gabrielle was born December 30, 1997. She is now 9, and my son is now 13. They are both very intelligent (mom's side), well behaved (mom's side), and are in my opinion, the 2 best kids on Earth.
Where am I now? I live in the Orlando area, with my beautiful, loving wife, 2 incredible children and no pets. (Nice little house, no picket fence.) My son, wife, and I all play World of Warcraft, and have been in a high end raiding guild for almost 2 years. (If you play WoW, my main is Lushanderk on Doomhammer, stop by and say moo sometime.) I still am a Dungeons and Dragons nerd, and I'm DMing a campaign, we play pretty much every Saturday evening. I do baseball and Pre-IB school stuff with my son, and basketball with my daughter, and my favorite place to vacation is Rapid City, South Dakota.
I apologize for the length of the post, but it's been so long (like 20 years) and so much has happened to all of us that I wanted to give you all a synopsis of me. I'd really like to hear more about and from each of you. I'm not one to dwell on the past, but one of the few things I regret in life is not graduating with all of you. Every so often, I pull out my year book, leaf through the c/o '86 section and wonder what you all are up to. Where you are, where you've been, and who you've become.
Peace to you all, and best wishes.
Larry
