Hi everybody!!! Long time no chat! We have FINALLY made it to Texas -- we've been here about a month. I haven't been on the board for sooooo long. My little POS laptop that I had kicked the bucket right before we moved so I have had no internet access until today. It's fun trying to find an ISP when you live in the sticks. For now, we are living in a little town called Azle, which is about 30 minutes outside of Fort Worth. Once our lease is up here, which will be in September, we will be moving to an even smaller town called Springtown (pop. under 3000). We really like it out here so far. The people here are so friendly and nobody's in a hurry to do anything (nice for a change). My kids are really happy here too. They are making friends at school and fitting right in. I got a new computer with multimedia capabilities so, once I figure out how to use it, I can finally post some pictures of my girls. It may take me a little time, I'm not very computer savvy. I hope everyone is doing well. It's great to be back!

Hi Kristine! Congrats on selling your house and moving out to Texas, you must be so excited! I have been to Houston, Dallas, Plano and Garland, TX over the years. We actually looked at buying some land in gosh, I want to say Smithville? It was a while back ago, so my memory might be fuzzy...but their claim to fame was that the movie "Hope Floats" with Sandra Bullock & Harry Connick Jr. was filmed there. An EXTREMELY small town, but we could've bought 11 acres for a shade over $30,000 which is a steal compared to land in FL. Only problem was that is was waaaay out in the sticks as you said, and although that would be nice, I think I would have gone through Mall withdrawl : ) Send pictures when you can...would love to see pics of you and your family!

I was worried about the mall thing too! However, it's amazing how quickly you can get to just about anywhere (except Dallas, of course!) from the sticks. I have three malls within about 30 minutes from me, but you wouldn't know it judging by where I live. We have to go to different towns for any of the big stores (Lowe's, Best Buy, big restaurants, etc.), but it doesn't take long to get there because there is no traffic. It's nice to look around and not see so much concrete for a change. My husband had to go to downtown Dallas today for work and I swear he came home with less hair (and it's already buzzed!). It's only about 45 miles from here, but it takes hours to get there just because of the traffic. Luckily, I can stay out here in my little village!

Yeah, there's a lot to be said for "small town traffic"! Everytime I think that I want to move to a big city, we drive to Orlando or someplace really congested and it changes my mind immediately! Although I swear St. Lucie West around 5-6 p.m. on any given day sucks just as bad.
