O.K., I guess this falls under the "stupid polls" category. But I'd just like to know...anyone have a favorite 80's song or group? Let's hear what some of them were...also, was discussing some "trends" from the 80's with some friends (i.e. dressing like madonna, boys "tightrolling" their jeans, jelly shoes...) that should NEVER have happened. Let's hear some memories of anything trendy or embarassing that you guys wore or did in H.S.

Now when I see it on TV, the wearing of socks all the way up the calf. That was so gay looking.

I still listen to 80s bands. Some of my favorite are still The Police and solo Sting, Prince, Duran Duran, and more obscure 80s songs. Today's 80s radio burnout the already burned out top hits (I swear if I hear "Jessie's Girl" once more.....)
Parachute pants are today's cargos, so I still wear those (I love all the pockets) One of the more embarrassing things for me was wearing bandanas on your legs

omg, I almost completely forgot about those! For girls you would wear those little ankle boots with your jeans tucked into them and tie a bandana around the boot. Queer.
Oh, and let's not forget legwarmers over the jeans, or I remember cutting the neckline out of a perfectly good sweatshirt to do the whole "flashdance" thing! lol
I still love Duran Duran...I really loved me some Billy Idol back in the day, of course Journey, The Police....good times! ;D

OK, endulge me...what the hell was a McDLT? Seems like I should know. I'm still trying to get past the McRib sandwich! lol My kids would eat McD's 3 meals a day if ya let them (and NO I don't let them). We used to love that place called Rax that I think was most recently that Yianni's (some greek place)...we'd go there after school and get a blueberry milkshake (yummm). And holy shit, there was a "cool" side to the wham album???

Hey, I thought George Michael was the hottest thing ever back in highschool...who could've known that years later he'd be caught "pleasuring himself" in a bathroom stall or whatever to some dude. EW. Looking back, it's scary but we had a lot of groups back then who would be borderline gay by today's standard...Spandau Ballet, need I say more???

The Outfield was my fave band (well, except for the one that Michael Kermit Jackson played drums in locally) and the song Use Your Love!
Speaking of MKJ, he didn't make it in Hollywood. But, alas, he lives in California and runs a train ride at some kiddie park. Funny, I get the Michael Jackson name now. ;D
Oh and we had a Retro 80's Prom every year in Dayton, OH. The second year, I was the prom queen - wore my dress from 1986 (but had a better date). What a hoot! I'll post that pic on the other site.

McDLT was the burger on one side and the lettuce and tomato on the other side. Idea behind it was to have hot on 1 side and cool on the other, then put them together when you were ready to eat it for a mouth treat.

I watched the Youtube of the McDLT commercial that you sent Mike, what a riot! Hard to believe Jason Alexander got his start that way. Yeah, that was a pretty good burger!
I loved Outfield too, and Use your Love was my fave song by them too! ;D

Sorry, although I know all those emo songs from the 80's, I still stand by my favorite R&R bands. Maybe some were from before the 80's, but I still listened to them through the 80's and still do to this day! Led Zep, Floyd, VH, Rush, AC/DC, Motley Crue, Twisted Sister, Ratt, Dio...the list goes on and on.
